About LuLu Cakes
Laura A. Kalina, the creator of LuLu Cakes in Naperville, Illinois, began as a graphic designer and artist with a passion for transforming food into art. Laura started her first job at the age of sixteen with a company called Cookies by Design, a shop that sold colorful gift cookie baskets and bouquets. It was there that she first learned the art of pastry decorating.
While in college, she landed a job at a local bakery where she was able to advance her skills to decorating cakes and other pastries. Even though her career focus was in graphic design, she never lost her passion for cake decorating. Laura continued to practice her skills as a hobby and made numerous cakes for her friends and family. Eventually, this hobby evolved into what is now known as LuLu Cakes.
LuLu Cakes is about making each order different and each design unique. You will not find a gallery of standard, cookie cutter designs here. We want your cake or cookie to be special, so we will personally custom create your ideas! Stumped on an idea? Laura will draw up options for you. Either way, we will be sure you receive a work of art of your very own.
